Carrier Executive Named Chair of Junior Achievement Board



Greg Alcorn, Vice President, Commercial Sales and Marketing for Carrier Corp., has been elected chairman of the board of Junior Achievement of Southwest New England.

Greg, who has worked with Junior Achievement as a volunteer and a board member for thirteen years, says he is "truly honored to serve as chairman" and adds, "I have seen firsthand the amazing things that our staff and volunteers accomplish, the impact that their work has on 30,000 students each year. "

When asked how would be approaching his leadership role in the coming months, he said: "JA achieved terrific program and financial results this year in tough conditions – and I look forward to contributing in any way I can to continuing this positive momentum into 2011 and beyond. "

Greg succeeds Marlene Ibsen, president of the Travelers Foundation, who becomes immediate past chair.

Re-elected as officers at JA's annual meeting were:

  • Brendan Lynch, retired senior executive from the former Travelers Life & Annuity,Vice Chair;
  • Hugh Manke, Managing Partner of the New Haven office of Updike, Kelly & Spellacy, Secretary;
  • Jim Bolduc, Chief Financial Officer, Connecticut Resources Recovery Authority, Treasurer;
  • Lou Golden, President.

In addition, JA has elected five new members to its board of directors.

The five new members are:

  • Jill Albertelli, Vice President, Global Supply Chain, Pratt & Whitney
  • Sharon Burns, Market Human Resources Manager, Walmart
  • Ken James, Vice President, Corporate Catastrophe Strategy and Analysis, Travelers
  • Raquel Kennedy, partner, Victory Energy Solutions and Raquel Kennedy Consulting, LLC
  • Sean Riegler, Partner, Ernst & Young
