Educators - How JA Works

1. The first step is to complete a JA Class Request Form for all the teachers at your school who would like to participate in Junior Achievement. The form may be submitted online, mailed, or faxed to our office.

2. After we receive your class request, you will receive a confirmation from JA.

3. We will then search for a volunteer for each of the classrooms that have requested the program. We also encourage teachers to recommend family, friends, or students' parents who might be willing to serve as your JA volunteer. We are happy to meet with and train any volunteers that you refer to us.

4. Once a volunteer is assigned to your classroom, you will receive a message from JA notifying you of your volunteer's name and contact information.

5. As a teacher, you are then required to make contact with your volunteer to discuss scheduling and anything else your volunteer should know about working with your students. This can be discussed over the phone or by E-mail, but meeting at the school is best if schedules allow.

6. During your volunteer's visits he/she will lead the lesson, but please be available to assist as needed. Remember, our volunteers are not teachers and may need your help in managing the students. Please NEVER LEAVE YOUR VOLUNTEER ALONE WITH THE STUDENTS.

7. On the volunteer's last day with your students, have the students thank the volunteer. Volunteers love to receive hand-made thank you cards from the students. If you would like to have your volunteer come back to work with your class next year, feel free to ask him/her to return.

8. After the volunteer's last visit, please complete the Teacher Evaluation Form online and submit it to us. You feedback is essential in helping us to continually improve our programs and service to you.
