JA In A Day
JA In A Day
"JA In A Day" is a one-day presentation of Junior Achievement's programs. "JA In A Day" is a unique opportunity for JA to reach children a whole school at a time. By recruiting and training volunteers for this specific program, "JA In A Day" can reach every child of every grade level. This offers our volunteers a great opportunity to get involved with Junior Achievement without juggling schedule conflicts or long-term commitments.

What will volunteers do?
The volunteers participate in a training session (on-site at your location or at our office) prior to the event where they will obtain their classroom materials and teacher assignments. On the day of the event, volunteers conduct the lessons in the assigned classrooms.

What is the role of the teacher?
During the event, school personnel will be present in the classroom at all times to help maintain discipline and answer any of the volunteer's questions. Teachers are encouraged to participate.

What will JA staff do?
JA staff will do the planning and coordination and will be present during the event.

How much of a time commitment?
Usually 4.5 hours - arrive at the school approx. 8:30 and begin lessons. Usually you're done by 1:00.

Can I bring a friend?
Absolutely. If you know of someone you would like to bring along to work with you please feel free to do so. The only requirements: enthusiasm and attendance at the one hour training session.

What about lunch?
JA provides a catered luncheon for all volunteers and teachers.

In Brief

A Junior Achievement "JA in a Day" is a terrific way for kids in grades K through 6 to experience the valuable lessons JA elementary programs provide in a fun and exciting half-day event.

A "JA in a Day" program typically takes about 3.5 - 4 hours to complete 5 hands-on lessons.

How It Works
1. School and JA Manager schedule "JA In A Day" date

2. Volunteers are recruited and trained

3. Volunteers teach 5 lessons (25-45 minutes in length - depending on grade level)

4. Teacher remains in the classroom to help with activities and maintain discipline
